Checking for updates

The pagestrip editor is updated frequently to include new features, implement bug fixes or ship usability refinements. In order to make this process easier for you, the app includes an automatic update system.

If an update becomes available, the pagestrip editor will automatically open an informative window and enable you to download, install and relaunch the update with a single click.

You can also choose to skip the new version (even though we do not recommend this) or to be reminded again at a later time — A useful feature if you’re currently busy finishing your layout.

It is also possible to tell the auto-updater to install and apply all updates automatically from now on.

The Inspector The version number of the update, as well as your current version. A short description of the update. This might look differently for you, since it can be re-styled for every update. Check this to install updates automatically from now on. Skipping a version means you won't be bothered again until an even newer version becomes available. The update won't be installed right now, but pagestrip will remind you about it again in a while. Download and install the update right now.

While pagestrip will automatically check for updates in the background once in a while, you can also trigger an update check manually.

To do so, select Check for updates from the editor’s main menu.

Checking for updates manually...

If an error happens while downloading or expanding the update, the update will not be installed, and you will be prompted again at a later time. As an example, this can happen if the download is interrupted unexpectedly.

Updates are also cryptographically signed to ensure their authenticity and completeness before installation. This way, you don’t need to worry about receiving a maliciously altered version of the app or installing an incomplete download by accident.

The automated updater is based on the open-source Sparkle Project.
